Center for Women & Business Directors Kathy Simione, Judy Gedge and Trish Kelly recently accompanied Quinnipiac students to the “Women Empowering Women” Conference on Saturday, Feb. 6. Sponsored by the Yale Women’s Leadership Initiative, the conference focused on empowering future women leaders and emphasized ways to develop necessary skills to succeed, as well as the importance of having a mentor.
“It was wonderful to have the opportunity to learn from such highly respected professional women from around the country and learn about different perspectives,” said Nicole Zaino, a sophomore marketing major.
Students had the opportunity to attend sessions on topics including “Women Empowering Women,” “Overcoming Gender Obstacles,” “Breaking Barriers” and “Changing Careers.”
“I would love to attend more of these insightful conferences and workshops to enrich my knowledge as a woman in a business school,” said Megan Winagle, a freshman international business major.
One of the goals of the Center for Women & Business is to support a climate of inclusion that engages the talent of female leaders and develops the full potential of the female workforce. The Center is excited to provide students with opportunities like the conference to facilitate their professional development. The Center will host a professional development and speed networking opportunity on April 15. Look for details in the coming weeks.
